NC-Oyster-Festival-Logo-233x300Come join us for the 34th Annual NC Oyster Festival, October 18th-19th, 2014 and find out for yourself why the oyster is so treasured in Ocean Isle. The North Carolina Oyster Festival offering a fun mixture of new activities and old favorites that are certain to entertain the entire family!

The beach center becomes a walking district that offers something for everyone: local cuisine, arts and crafts, children’s activities, live music, Oyster Stew Cook-off Contest and the Oyster Shucking Contest. New for 2014, there’s an an Oyster Eating Contest as well as a shag competition where folks will compete for the “Shaggin’ Oyster” titles, so come “Get your shag on!”

Leading up to the festival are our Annual Surf-off Competition on October 4 & 5, 2014. The following weekend there is a new and exciting event on October 11, 2014 – the Muddy Oyster Challenge. This is a 5k mud run. And, the annual Road Race is being moved back to Oyster Festival weekend. It will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 and will include a 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Fun Run.

Festival is from 9am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday. Admission is $5 per person and children 8 and under are free.

This year’s musical acts will include The Fat Jack Band, The Entertainers, 40 East, 4 Miles South, Jim Quick & the Coastline Band, and Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot.

People come from far and wide to visit the Oyster Festival,  it’s a favorite festival to anyone who has been.

The coastal waters of Brunswick County provide an abundance of the marine mollusks each year bringing over 30,000 people to Ocean Isle Beach to celebrate the tasty treat.

The North Carolina Oyster Festival will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts, vendors, festival food, NC Oyster Festival Road Race, NC Oyster Festival Tennis Tournament, Surf Contest, a girls Beauty Pageant, a kid’s areas, the Oyster Shucking Championship, and an Oyster Stew Cook-off.
