Ocean Isle Children Hounded By Paprazzi

Eleven year old twin boys from Ocean Isle Beach are facing a media stampede. Gunnar and Hunter Greer are in the glare of the national news because their lemonade stand, “LemonSharks” has won the Inc. magazine annual “Young Entreprenuer Best Lemonade Stand in America” competition.
They didn’t even know they were entered in the contest. Their mom decided they should put the lessons learned being home schooled last year into practice. They were to think of a business, find investors and give back a portion of profits to the community. They decided to start the lemonade stand in front of their parents Ocean Isle business. Funding came mostly from family members. When it came time to decide how to give back that was easy – they chose their favorite cause The Museum of Coastal Carolina here on Ocean Isle Beach.
With this already in motion their mother saw a copy of Inc. magazine and decided to enter them without telling them! The boys were shocked and amazed when they won top honors, a $1000 savings bond, a Nintendo DS system and national bragging rights.
The boys really do have a top notch operation. They have a brightly colored, beach theme stand with sharks, a parot sign and bright balloons to attract the attention of passing motorists. Their product is also first rate. They use a blender to create the shaved ice that is the basis for their creations, add lemonade (choice of regular, pink, strawberry or sugarfree), and top of with a fresh sliced lemon or lime twist.
We think these kids have a great future.
