OIB Fishing Report

As Jimmy Buffet has sang so eloquently, “…when the coast is clear.” This Fall has been extremely quiet, a double whammy of dismal economic times and epic bad fishing weather.
I know fishermen are notorious for complaining about the weather, and I try not to subscribe, but there is no denying that the weather has been incredibly bad this Fall. We have fished some, but we’ve cancelled more days than we fished and many of the days we did fish were tolerable, but not comfortable. What are you going to do?
I still believe that the weather always ends up balanced, and thus we must have a long stretch of beautiful weather coming to us soon.
On the horizon is the annual Bluefin Tuna fishery. Many folks are all ready gearing up, and hopes are high for a good Winter fishery, maybe that good weather will kick in?
